Managing change in the competitive environment

Assalamualaikum.

Jumlah perbincangan selama 15 jam melalui video tele-conference. We laugh a lots, getting to know each other, trying to understand all parties minded; designer-engineer-part maker-manufacturer. Walaupun setiap kali tengok prototype, mesti complaint on how do they design like this!

Jumaat lepas, saya sudah lengkapkan fasa kedua projek. Perbincangan berkenaan jig & equipment to use during model assembly. Ini perbincangan antara engineer-production-jig maker. Sekali lagi, banyaknya komen..negative. Entah kenapa, saya percaya yang kami (Malaysia side) boleh lakukan. Tetapi ada boss yang tak habis-habis bertanya why they design like this? Why they just design? Can Japanese boss go to Japan and discuss about this matter? Ask them how to assembly? <= They all emotional!

Saya sekadar senyum, terkadang orang terlebih pengalaman ni susah terima perubahan.

Perbincangan diteruskan. Pihak production merungut tak sudah. Can we do auto-machine? Asal susah sikit, auto-machine. Saya banyak kali geleng kepala. Seboleh mungkin, saya mahu elak daripada menggunakan auto-machine. [Because I am an engineer; I use to study the machine & machinary. I do approving the auto-machine effectiveness compare to human several time. I have the background working with those high-accuracy machine such wire bonding process. And I know, this kind of assembly fit human best.]

My Japanese boss speak my mind in better way. How could machine judge 'not-well-fit'? How could machine judge 'the pin has mate to the hole'? How could machine judge 'the roller not suitable and need change roller type'? The answer is machine CANNOT JUDGE. They have sensor, but not human type of sense. They have eye (optic sensor) but cannot work like human eye. Their brain use calculated programmed while human's brain just give judgement in a second in 1001 type of miss-match. So, HUMAN IS THE BEST MACHINE EVER! => Remind me to this quote 'Human are designed to work' - Dr Alvin.

We manage to end meeting session well. Some item need to highlight to japan side after this, some point are missing. Lucky japan now having Silver week on next week, then we will have our Raya Haji..hehe. Will be back with week-packed on October!

Saya sedang menjalani kursus 2 hari mengenai 'Managing change in the competitive environment'. Yes, life is about change and it must! I do a lot of change, until this level, if I feel like having a comfort zone, it will scared me. That's why I am setting my life to at lease travel mencari susah setahun sekali =)
